Our Summer Programme

Summer at Tamai means Linfield Park is buzzing. Four sports, four ways for tamariki to get out there, get moving, and meet other kids from across the community who share a love of sport.

Whether it's stepping up to a Saturday cricket team, a Tuesday afternoon of Touch, a first go at Futsal, or Volleyball on a Thursday, tamariki from different schools come together to be part of a team. Every session comes with kai, transport sorted, and new friendships along the way.

From Have a Go sessions for our youngest players to competitive Saturday teams for our older tamariki, there's a spot for every kid this summer, whatever their age or experience.

Cricket 2026/2027

Year 5/6 - Saturdays

Cricket is stepping up for Year 5 and 6 tamariki this season. Registering for this team means committing to Saturday games as well as Thursday training, not just the Thursday session on its own.

Dates: 22 October to the 12th December

Whānau evening to be held at 4:30 pm for all caregivers to discuss the season
Tamariki will still be picked up from school on the bus and brought down to Linfield Park for training
Saturday games are held each week at Whitau School
Uniform will be provided
Caregivers are required to pick tamariki up at 5 pm
We will consider some Year 7 tamariki for this team, depending on numbers and team balance
We will also consider some capable Year 4 tamariki for the Saturday team

Year 5/6s - Saturdays - Expression of Interest

Year 3/4 Cricket – Have a Go

For our younger tamariki, we're running Cricket Have a Go sessions, same as our old model. Come down, give it a go, no commitment beyond the six weeks.

Dates: 29th October to the 3rd December.

Runs for 6 weeks
Tamariki will be picked up from school on the bus and brought down to Linfield Park
Caregivers are required to pick tamariki up at 5 pm
Kai provided

Year 3/4 Cricket - Expression of Interest

Futsal

Futsal is a brand new programme for 2026/27, giving tamariki the chance to have a go and learn the game in a fun, friendly environment. No experience needed, just come along and give it a go.

Open to Years 5 to 8, with some capable Year 4s considered.

Runs from 23 October to 27 November, 6 weeks, at Cowles Stadium.

Tamariki will be picked up from school on the bus and brought down to Cowles Stadium
Sessions run from 3:30 pm to 5 pm
Caregivers are required to pick tamariki up at 5 pm
A great chance for tamariki to try something new and build new skills

Futsal Expression of Interest

Touch Rugby

Touch Rugby is an exciting and fun-filled event held every Tuesday afternoon at Linfield Park, and we'd love to see you there!

We run two Touch seasons. Term 4 runs from 20 October to 1 December, and Term 1 runs from [insert Term 1 start] to [insert Term 1 end].

Schools are welcome to enter teams across all grades, from Year 0 through to Year 8, making it a fantastic opportunity for tamariki of all ages to get active, build friendships, and enjoy some friendly competition.

Entry forms will be sent out to schools the term before the event, so keep an eye out and get your teams registered early.

Games run from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, so come on down after school and join in the fun. We'll also have a community BBQ running, so bring the whānau along for kai and a catch up. All players, supporters, and spectators are welcome!

Volleyball

Volleyball is running as Have a Go sessions this season, giving Year 7 and 8 tamariki the chance to try the game in a fun have a go environment.

Open to Years 7 and 8 only.

Runs on Thursdays, 29 October to 3 December, 6 weeks, at Linfield Park.

Tamariki will be picked up from school on the bus and brought down to Linfield Park
Sessions run from 3:30 pm to 5 pm
Kai provided
Caregivers are required to pick tamariki up at 5 pm
