Winter Programmes
Our Winter Programme
Our Winter Programme is the heart of Tamai Sports — it’s where it all began and remains the engine that drives everything we do. Each winter, we offer 160 places for tamariki to take part in a wide range of winter sports, creating opportunities to try something new, build skills, and experience the joy of being active in a safe and supportive environment.
Running alongside our sport delivery is our hauora programme, which is just as important as what happens on the field. This programme is focused on uplifting every tamaiti who comes through Tamai Sports — building confidence, strengthening wellbeing, supporting positive connections with their peers, whānau, and community, and ultimately working to remove barriers so tamariki can participate.
To further support this, we have a deliberately designed kai programme that ensures tamariki receive a warm dinner, recognising the role nutrition plays in wellbeing and participation. Our programme is also delivered with strong coaching numbers, allowing for high-quality support and positive relationships through good coach-to-tamariki ratios. Together, our Winter Programme and hauora focus reflect our commitment to developing strong, resilient tamariki through sport, care, and connection.
